All these pics are taken with my brand new iPhone 4 by the way. Aren't they fab! The camera is so quick, and has a flash! And super high-res. YEY! I love it.
This first one isn't in the count, it's just something I made for the monster. I found these cute little buttons at a quilt shop in Warwick ((no offense if you quilt, but the fact that awesome fabric is cut into 'fat quarters' PISSES ME OFF! seriously. Especially if you're trying to find cool fabric on eBay or Etsy)).
I cut the shank off the button and hotglued it to a brooch back ((you can get bulk lots of brooch backs, earrings, ring bases etc of Etsy for pretty cheap! I found good hairclips in the quilting section of Spotlight)). The button came in a set of other litlte traffic buttons. A cop car, a firetruck, a big truck, a helicopter. so cute!
Now here are some hairbows I made from scraps of felt, ribbon and lace and embellished with some buttons and cabochons!
The first one is just a big lace bow :)
Pretty but it won't show up on my black hair much ((although I thinka little glimpse of lace there would look cool anyway!)). Lucky I have plans for my hair ((but it'll have to wait a while for the black to fade...))
The second one is just tartan ribbon tied into a bow + hotglued to the clip base. I know these are embaressingly simple, but hopefully they will inspire you!
I love the colours in this one :) Bright + Cheerful! It's a hairbow
This one is a big black satin ribbon with a Mom tile I bought ages ago. I got it when I was pregnant, it was a necklace but the little whatever-it-was that attached the tile to the chain broke. It was a bit annoying, but I kept the tile. It's made from a scrabble tile :)
Anyway I don't think this one will last long. The hotglue is not friends with the satin ribbon, and both the tile + the hairclip aren't holding to it as well as the others. We'll see.
I used a rectangle of purple felt and stitched a red bow button to the centre of this one :)
LEOPARD PRINT FELT. Oh yeh. It exists. Check out your local Spotlight kids!
I used red ric-rac and a little red heart button :)
This is felt and off-white ribbon. It's a little nautical-y don't you think?
This one is a brooch, because I was unsure how the weight of the thumbcuffs would go on my head and if I'd injure myself or someone else :) i think I'll glue something to the middle of it though, because I'm annoyed with the messiness there. Booo.
All you need is some bits and bobs, some scrap pieces of fabric and ribbon and some hotglue! I have a little tiny fishbowl filled with all my bases, so its handy when I want to make something to co-ordinate with my outfit!
That is 8 points for 8 little accessories, so my FINAL score, because I'm going to bed now and unless I can sew something in my sleep in the next hour and a half, sits at...
You better go check out Thera now, because she lives in a different timezone + can sew for a bit longer! WOOO!

I love them all! I especially love the leopard print hair bow. It's super cute!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Fat Quarters piss me off too! Bah! Such a small piece of fabric. Dumb!
