How pretty is this top!



It's not normally something I like, but Kathleen makes me want to want pretty things! Then I go "STOP IT! Stop thinking about pretty things and make yourself more things that are more YOU, then you won't be sad when you can't find anything to wear because all you own are pretty things and you want to show everyone how rock + roll you are. Because you can be rock + roll and hide your yucky bits, but you can't be pretty and not feel self concious about your yucky bits!"

But I still want this top! Maybe I can make myself pretty to work with the top ;D

I cut up a shirt I'd already made. it had a giant hood on it, but I'd never worn it so I made it cuter. I need to topstitch the cuff down though, it sticks up SO annoying otherwise.

The cuff is from a zebra print skirt I cut up years ago to make into this mini. It's slightly stretchy, even though the print is faded a little.

I added a black satin ribbon bow ((sensing a theme here....)) and three black bat buttons down the centre front!

I'm actually thinking of changing this into a dress.

I made this top for spring top week! Not very flash, but I promise I'll work on something really great this week before the spring top week entries close!!

It's made from thick hot-pink stretchknit that I got in a bag of fabric from the lovely Kat Creasey ((of My Little Rockabilly fame)). I stitched black stretch knit around the arms + neckline as a trim and added a black satin ribbon bow for kicks!

This top is inspired by my favourite neckline from the 1950s. I have made it quite a few times, and my sister even picks it up in alot of sketches in my books :P

I don't love this shirt, but I think it's because I don't love the way I look right now. Tim gets paid tomorrow and I am joining the uni gym so I can get skinny again!

So just to show you that I have been sewing, I thought I'd snap some quick pics of what I've been making for the Kustom Krafts Market #5. I was going to have a tonne of different things, but I think I'll just make heaps of just a few things like the bowtie singlets, rockabilly jeans and bowling shirts. Maybe some hoodies.

Mini Baby Bowling Shirts!

So damn adorable. I need to iron and put tags in them still. But aren't they cute!! Every bowling shirt is one of a kind, I use scraps for the contrasts so once they're used, there is no more!!

And on the 8th day, there was internet!

First here's some pictures from the photoshoot I did earlier this month for Raw Bones Photography. The make up artist was AMAZING!

It's called Hollywood Heartbreak, and beasically the story is there's a lost abandoned hollywood starlet on the side of the road. hours later she emerges from the woods all battered and bruised. What happened to her? Not sure; but as I type this I can still smell the delicious maple-syrupy smell of the fake blood :)

Next month, on the 23rd, I'm having a stall at Kustom Krafts #5. Very exciting. I'm sewing like a mad thing for it. My new label is Vincent Black Clothing, and is strictly boyswear! Bowling shirts, rockabilly jeans with roll-up cuffs and cute themed hoodies. I can't wait to show you all!

I've Moved... AGAIN

Yep. I've moved - again.

This time it wasn't too far. Literally over the back fence. My parents own two houses, Now before you start thinking my parents are richy folk, think again. One day I'll tell you all the story of my childhood how when we'd go grocery shopping we'd have to put stuff back and after rent, and other bills mum had only $11.32 for the rest of the week. So we weren't very well off at all - that's why mum made all our clothes.

Now back to the owning two houses. Mum and dad, after I left home, finally had saved enough money to buy a cute little house. Then literally days before my wedding they bought the house right behind it! They now live in the second house, and I live in the first one. ((Tim + I were married in the backyard 2.5 years ago :) ))

I have a studio seperate from the house, and a spare bedroom inside the house! Vin now sleeps in his own room and SLEEPS ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT.

Well I'm at an internet kiosk right now, and the time is ticking down, so I'll love you and leave you! I'll be back in about a week with my home internet!!
