Tutorial:: Batman Begins Boots

This wasnt the tutorial I had planned originally, but my camera has been in our car for the last week and Tim takes it to work. This is a fairly simple tute, and the pictures aren't so great because I took them with my phone in bad lighting!!

First get your materials together!

You will need::
1x pair ugg boots/slippers/whatever. I got mine for $8 from Aldi! Hurrah!
Sharp Scissors
Thin note paper + a pen/pencil
Felt of your colour choice
Matching Thread
and a needle.

As you can see above, I already have a little stencil made. All I did was google image searched Batman Logo. All I had was red felt, and I knew there was a red logo somewhere. There is, it's a Batman + Robin type thing, but I settled on the Batman Begins logo. I got my thin paper and held it up to the computer monitor and traced over it with my pen. It's fairly symmetrical, so I just folded it in half when I cut it out to make it perfect.

Pin it to your felt and cut it out. I folded my felt in half and cut out half a bat, neatening the edges when I unfolded it.

Two Bats!

Now pin them to the back of your boots, making sure they are even. Handstitch the Bats onto the boots. I used an overcast-type stitch. To secure them in place.

THE END! Take photos!

SEWING + A Competition!

Hey guys! I've been so scarce I know! I'm really sorry! I've been so busy, and barely had my little cold butt outside of my studio for long! Luckily my mum has been able to keep an eye on Vin while I tried to sew + sew + sew.

What am I sewing for you ask? Why, THIS...

And I expect ya'll to be there! I'm hoping to have a TONNE of stuff stocked, but I'm freaking out. Most of it is one-of-a-kind, so I'll be doing a photoshoot this week to make up a lookbook. I'm running out of time, but I think I'll be ok. I really had hoped to have finished sewing now, but that is totally not possible. I think I need 3-4 more days. I only have a few things COMPLETED, but everything has been cut out and interfaced etc.

Here's a few pics of what I've made so far! You've already seen this stuff, but check out the Vinniesaurus Rex Hoodie!

You really have to click that pic to embiggen it. His little toes are SO DAMN CUTE!

ALSO! I HAVE A COMPETITION UP ON THE VINCENT BLACK CLOTHING FANPAGE. You could win a $25 gift voucher! All you have to do is comment underneath this photo with what you think your litlt boy is going to be when he grows up and why! And if you don't have a little boy, what are YOU going to be when you grow up?

You can also now direct your friends to the VBC fanpage by going to http://facebook.com/littleboysrock

Hurrah for direct urls!

Also,

My amazing friend Stacey Cash featured Vincent's little dinosaur hoodies on her blog.

Viva La Moda competition

So I have 5 days until I have to finish/photograph/ship my entry into the Viva La Moda T-Shirt Reconstruction Competition!!! Whoopsie.

You had to enter into it, show them your portfolio, then they'd choose a few people for teh actual competition. I got accepted! Which is insane because you know who else is in it? My favourite people on the planet Lipgloos&Black!

I have a tonne of ideas already, so I'm going to sketch them tonight, upload them, then post a link here to them so you guys can help me choose what to do. You guys will have about 18hours to let me know what you think!

So stay tuned.

This clever mummy saw a coat like this for a doll, and decided her little doll needed one too. I really want a daughter one of these days!
