Celebabies Style - Barron Trump

Barron Trump is the son of Donaldand Melania Trump, and luckily for him he inherited his mother's looks! Being the son of a very wealthy couple, there is no wonder Barronis always really well-dressed. He has this little preppy style, and I think it's adorable.

Sucha cute outfit! At first I thought it was a Little Lord Fauntleroy Suit, which is something I've been meaning to make the Monster for a long time, but it's actually a black sweater over a white collared shirt with little black shorts. He's wearing shin-high black socks and dress shoes which, judging by the soles of them, he's never worn before...

His style is almost a uniform, little sweaters over collared shirts with jeans and tennis shoes, or little three-piece suits. Pretty classy, kiddo!

Look at that coat! Everything about Barron's outfits are just so, perfect. He's like a doll more than a child, well I've never seen baby boys stay this clean before!

Little blue knit sweater worn over a pale blue collared dress shirt. Careful of that clown behind you Barron, he's more than a little creeping me out.

Put down that lollipop, you're sweet enough, child!
I love that his sweater matches his jacket perfectly, and those beautiful dark brown wooden buttons on the sleeves and jacket front just pull the whole look together.

Barron, your mum is a babe
CABLE KNIT SWEATER! Hahah, but this is nice and flat, not like the chunky ones you find at the op-shop. Speaking of those, my sister has always wanted a Cable-Knit Sweater party. Perhaps that should be the theme of her engagement party/wedding?

Tutorial:: Pants with Suspenders

'Allo Guv'na!

This tutorial is going to show you how to turn a pair of adult pants into a pair of toddler pants, with suspenders!

Chim Chimney Chim Chiminey Chim Chim Cheree!

1. You will need:
A pair of adult pants [or pants too large for bubba]
A pair of pants that fit little kiddo well
Scissors
Pins

2. Lay the toddler pants over the top of the adult pants, and mark where the sides are. Make sure it's an even distance apart and don't forget to add a cm or two for seam allowance.

3. Mark where the bottom of the pants goes to and add a cm or two seam allowance.

4. Cut down the sides to where the bottom of the pants will be.

5. Cut across the pants to make them shorter [where you marked]

< back                                front >

6. Now the pants should still be attached by the crotch seam. if you open them out and fold the fronts together and the backs together it should look like this.

7. Fold your toddler pants in half [so the front is on the outside] and lay it over the front piece of the pants you are resizing. Mark the curved line and don't forget to add seam allowance! Mine was very close, so I left the original crotch seam and just cut down the other side of the leg.

8. Do the same for the back. Mine was very close, so I left a bit of the original back seam at the top of the pants.

9. So this is what the back of my pants looks like so far. Yours may be two seperate pieces, but I didn't have enough room.

10. Now you'll make your suspender pieces from the scraps of the original pants. I measured from the waist of my son, over his shoulder to the centre back of his waist. this came to 55cm. Then I measure over his shoulders again, but stopped at about the middle of his back which came to 40cm [which meant the centre back strap of the suspenders was 15cm]. It doesn't matter if these are exact, because I'm using non-stretch fabric, so my plan was for him to wear the suspenders down most of the time anyway. If you're using stretchy fabric it will work well to use as real suspenders.

So I cut two 42cm strips about 6cm wide - adding seam allowance! And one 6cm wide strip that was 17cm long. In retrospect, this centre back strap should be even wider, by about 2 cm I guess [so if you need your suspenders to be perfect, make them 8cm wide!]

11. Now, using an iron because it is a lot easier, fold your straps over so the raw wedges are on the inside.

12. And stitch. I only need one side of the strap stitched to keep it all together, but I did two rows to make it look even.

13. Fold over and stitch one wide end of your centre back strap.

14. Angle your shoulder straps on the centre back strap

 15. Fold the shorter strap around the two, tucking the raw edges under [see this is where it was better for it to be wider, so you can angle the straps nicely].

16. Stitch and serge the centre back butt seam

17. Serge the end of the centre back strap and attach it to the centre back of the pants.

18.  Stitch and serge the outer leg seams

19. Stitch and serge the inside leg seam.

20. Serge and hem the trouser legs.

21. Attach the front of the suspenders equal distance apart.

Celebabies Style - Bronx Mowgli Wentz

The title of this post should really be "Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson carry their baby around", but it's not.

Unfortunate name aside, Bronx has the potential to be a pretty stylin' little dude. [seriously, it's like me calling my son Batman or something. You, you just don't do that]

Those curls are ridiculously cute though! Remind me of a certain blonde monster in my life's mass of hair. I love that his shirt kinda at first glance looks like vest made out of a tee over another tee, but then I realised it's just one shirt, with contrast sleeves and placket. Love his shoes too!

Ok if these guys weren't famous, looking at them together you'd wonder why they weren't! They are just screaming rockstars here, even little bb Bronx is rocking it out in a black hoodie.

K, unsure who dressed you here Bronx, but I'm sorry. You still look cute though. Even with your red patterned socks/leggings covering up your legs under your shorts. Really, if it;s cold enough to do that what's wrong with some pants eh? Do love the layering of the long-sleeved tee under the collared shirt.

Cute hoodie little man! Love that he wears his Ugg Boots pretty much everywhere!

Love the tacky sweater! And the hat, oh man how awesome is that hat!

BABY CHUCK TAYLORS! Even my Little Monster doesn't own an official pair yet. I'm just waiting for him to grow out of his Globes!

Token Skeleton Hoodie! And those high-tops are pretty damn cool also.

Tutorial:: Hair Clippies/Rings/Brooches

Seriously, you see the cute little accessories EVERYWHERE these days. Everyone is an entreprenaur, but um, well my experience with buying them is they always fall apart [k, not always, I did get some stuff from Bye Bye Baby and that has stood the test of time! It's even Little Monster proof!]. I'm not saying the ones I make don't fall apart, I don't wear them often enough to find out - although I did step on one of my rings the other day and it snapped, but I don't blame it. Also once I bought some stuff and it had hot-glue all over it, not really a good look. I look closely at mine and yeh, you can see the hotglue, but whatever, I MADE THEM, so I don't really give a...

These little accessories are so easy to whip up while you're getting ready, so you have something to co-ordinate with anything you end up wearing! #notspeakingfrompersonalexperienceoranything

So why bother paying for stuff that is some rad little trinkets hotglued onto a blank brooch./hairclip/ring base when you can D.I.Y.?

 Here's what you'll need!

Glue-gun and glue sticks.
You can pick these up from your crazy changs or local fabric store for like 8 bucks! Doesn't mean it'll last you forever, but it does the job!

A good look on etsy will find all the little things you want! My favourite seller is MiMiLoLo, and I've discovered these cute little thingers are called cabochans/cabochons. Have a search on etsy for them and you'll turn up LOADS!

felt!
ribbon + lace!
Other little knick-knacks I use are buttons, children's toys eg lego, scraps of felt, ribbon, lace, fabric etc etc etc! pretty much whatever isn't bolted down, you can glue it to your jewellery. Yeh, even if your kid if you so wish.

For the bases, search on etsy under the Supplies tab for "brooch backs", "ring bases", or "hair clips" - there should be a dozen drop down before you click search, so you can choose more specific style. This one is for metal hair clips. Also I picked up these rad hairclip with the hole in the end in the quilting section of my local fabric store. The holes in the hair clips and the brooch bases are EXCELLENT for the hotglue to stick into.

K. First off, let's make a simple bow!

Bow
Cut a rectangle of felt. This is mine, the dirty dollar coin shows the size of it.

Pinch the centre of it

With a needle and thread, secure the aea you pinched with a few stitches.

Now you have a simple bow!

Hot glue something to the centre of it, and then using a peg, secure it in place for a few minutes so the glue can dry and keep it together.

Brooches + Rings
To help keep stuff glued well, it's a really good idea to use a scrap of fabric between the back of whatever you are using and the clip/brooch/ring base.

Cut a tiny scrap to fit the size of the base

Then glue it on.

Now you're ready to add whatever you want to it.

Hairclips
Snap the clip open

Apply hot glue to the end of it, making sure you're only gluing the upper section of the clip

Now stick whatever you need onto it. The poker chip bow on the right is a hair clip.

Using Buttons with Shanks
Got a rad button that you want to use, but it's got a big annoying shank?

Snip it off! DON'T use your fabric scissors, regular paper scissors will work

Helping things stick better
If you have something with a flat back, it is helpful to make it as rough as possible so the glue has something to stick into. I use a steak knife and scratch away at the back of my cabochan to create an uneven surface

Things I Made

Yep you can see the glue A LOT in the batman ring, but unless you are taking up close photos of it, you don;t even see it!

The bat ring was once a button

Roller Derby bow!

These were once buttons, but I made them into little brooches for Little Monster to wear

Token Batman-a-holic Shot

That spiderweb ring. I can't get it off :( I bent it while wearing it and now it just stays on.
