cutest profile :B
I know. I can't quite believe it myself. I was SO sure the little Alien inside me was a boy. Apparently not! Little Monster is getting a baby sister! No idea on a nickname for her just yet, so for now she shall stay Alien! Her name is fully picked out, it's pretty rockin'

We're halfway there!

Tutorial: Heart cut-out cards

The other day, the Little Monster helped me make some cards for some gifts we were giving to some family. We made a heap of them, and now I have lots to use for the future. Yey!

As you can see, you can let your kids help you and make some awesome original artwork ones, or you can find pretty papers or pictures and make some pretty ones too. They're a cinch!

Tutorial: Perler/Hama Beads Pixel Heart Necklace

With all the Valentine's Day things popping up on Pinterest, I was in a bit of a love heart mood. This shape, according to my son who is the authority on shapes now, is called a Heart Beat.

I never knew what the heck Hama beads {also know as Perler beads} were until December of 2009 when I entered into a Pin-Up competition {yeh I used to be cute!} and I met the very talented Fanny Barlow of Drop Dead, Gorgeous... Couture to Die For. I bought this cute little pixel bow hair clip from her, and I still have it to this day. I LOVED it. It was like a game, but real life! In my hair!

It took me a while to figure out what they were made from, and even longer to decide to buy all the stuff I needed and give it a go. Trust me, it's SO EASY. Much easier than I thought it would be!

Want to know how to make your own hama bead jewellery? It's not even restricted to jewellery. You can make them into anything. Coasters, wallart. Um. Anything!

I made this Peashooter magnet for my sister from the game Plants vs Zombies

Star Wars Roundup

I'm rounding up all my Star Wars tutorials in this one neat little post. You know why? Because Wednesday night at midnight Tim and I are going to see Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in 3D at the cinema! I'm SO excited, even though I'm not a massive fan of the first Episode, just because I'm getting the chance to see it in the cinemas!

We're taking Monster with us on Saturday for the special kids screening of it. I still need to make him a little Anakin costume, but I finished his Jedi robe the other night.

Crazy in Love and he's just crazy

I just wanted to share this cute pic I took of Monster and myself while we waited for the bus yesterday morning in the rain. It's hard to get non-posed pictures when you're taking them yourself, but I always snap a few and I love how this came out.

Oh yeh I have blue hair now :)
Have a good weekend fiends

New Facebook Page and an upcoming GIVEAWAY

Oh yeh! I decided that I needed a new Facebook page since I've outgrown the 'Queen of the Trailer Park' name which my old page was named {its difficult to change names on pages}. So I made a new one!

It's called Max California. Oh my original! And you can find it by clicking the facebook button on the side bar here, or just by clicking this link.

And now for the REAL reason you're sussing out this post! I'm going to host my first ever giveaway! I don't want to gain followers or 'likers' on facebook to just have a number, because I know by my website stats I reach FAR more than the people that comment or bother to hit 'follow'. Seriously though I LOVE COMMENTS. Reading comments or emails from you lovely folk really brightens my day!

Anyway back to business, I would rather inspire people and show people how easy it is to make something if you really try and not give up {practice practice practice!}, so I feel a bit hypocritical for saying that once my Facebook fan page hits 100 likes I'll be launching a give away for one of my past t-shirt surgeries!

Do you remember this dress? I made it and wore it once to the premiere of Green Lantern {so like 2 hours?}! It's made from a Green Lantern tee and this really awesome feeling black stretch fabric {like a velvet feeling but not so weird}.

Yes it is quite MINI for a minidress, and you may feel more comfortable wearing leggings under it, or just wearing it as a tee with jeans or shorts. Anyway, YOU CAN OWN THIS! Or you can win this for someone you think would like to own it!

I'll be doing a proper post with better photos and measurements of the dress as well as terms and conditions for the giveaway later on once the fanpage hits 100 likers. So what are you waiting for my little nerdlet? Git to facebook!

{Fun Fact: Since I live in Australia and I get SO FRUSTRATED by blog's giveaways being US only, this thing is going to be GLOBAL. Yeh. I'm going to post this wherever you live baby because that's how much I want you to own it!}

Yesteday we made OOBLECK!

Oobleck is the coolest thing ever. It has several names but my favourite is Oobleck, since it comes from a Dr Seuss book!

It's so basic and easy to make, and the best part? Even if you your kid makes a giant mess with it, it is the simplest thing to clean up. I'm serious. Tim was worried it would be like weetbix and just stick to everything like concrete but a quick wipe with a damp cloth and GONE.

All you will need to 2 cups of corn starch/corn flour and one cup of water. THAT IS IT. Ridiculous isn't it!

I don't have photos of it, but I took some videos of me and the Monster playing with it. I love how he says Oobleck "oo egg" and how he copies me when I say it feels weird.

Monster was VERY entertained, playing with it for over half an hour by himself. He loved 'making a mess'. I sent the videos to his dad at work and everyone there was so amazed, ahaha.

There's actual science behind the way Oobleck behaves. If you apply rapid force, like when we were punching it, it stays hard and doesn't let us penetrate it. When we were slowly poking it, or running our fingers through it, it was like a liquid. This is called a non-Newtonian fluid. I don't know EXACTLY how it works or why it behaves like that, but you can read about it here. Or you can just make it and play with it!

This is where we got the idea from, and I really wanted to add colour to it and then make it dance but it was a bit of an effort trying to set up the subwoofer so I'll leave that for another day.
