Toddler Street Style: Too Cool for School

Most of the time we 'dress up', it's mainly to just go on a bus adventure to the shops. We rarely go anywhere really that needs us to look kickass, Monster and I just do it for fun. This is probably my favourite outfit we threw on him, completed - of course -by the bowler hat and a pair of sunglasses {both his additions}

The little dude loves to accesorise!

Hat:  Bowler style, $20 Party Hut {you can get cheaper on eBay}
Sunglasses:: $20 from Malouf Pharmacy
Shirt: I think this was from Big W?
Shorts: Black, second hand
Shoes: Slip-on, from the thrift store and painted by me
Bracelet & Anklet: Leather braided from Surf Vision, $7 each

Yum, snacktime.

This was the day we discovered cicada shells, and I taught him how he could wear them on his clothes. He loves bugs and beetles, but he wasn't so keen on the cicada idea.

Try This Thursday #16: A DAUGHTER

So to celebrate the fact that there is a DAUGHTER in my belly {yes that is SO weird to think of. I honestly expected a boy!}, here's my 9 favourite things I'm going to make her!

Also! I need your help! I really thought there was SO MUCH girl stuff out there, but I'm so fussy and also can't find it all now. If you have a link to a tutorial you've written or seen that you thought was cute, leave it in a comment below! Even if it's just a cute little outfit you've seen that's inspiring you. I REALLY need help with this girl thing!

I want to do this but with her name.

When I sorted through all Little Monster's clothes I never realised how BOY it all is. I need some cute little girlie beanies! She's going to be a winter baby!

Again! Calling all mamas of girls. Or aunts. Or people who KNOW girls. I don't know what I'm doing. Inspiration, links, WHATEVER. I need them.

It's A...

cutest profile :B
I know. I can't quite believe it myself. I was SO sure the little Alien inside me was a boy. Apparently not! Little Monster is getting a baby sister! No idea on a nickname for her just yet, so for now she shall stay Alien! Her name is fully picked out, it's pretty rockin'

We're halfway there!

Toddler Street Style: Jetsetter

This street style post is brought to you from the day after Monster turned 2! He was so little. We were in Tasmania for a friend's wedding and this was taken at 4am the day we were flying back home.

Beanie: City Beach, bought for Tim as a gift
Hoodie: Skeleton hoodie, Best & Less, $25
Jeans: Skinny Leg, Big W $5 on sale
Shoes: World Industries, skate style, bought from Target $25

He had about 50 shirts on underneath to stay warm.

Tutorial: Heart cut-out cards

The other day, the Little Monster helped me make some cards for some gifts we were giving to some family. We made a heap of them, and now I have lots to use for the future. Yey!

As you can see, you can let your kids help you and make some awesome original artwork ones, or you can find pretty papers or pictures and make some pretty ones too. They're a cinch!

Toddler Street Style: Dapper Gent

We went to a baby shower a few months ago, and Monster and I dressed up a little for it. It was held in Queen's Park and was so pretty with bunting and yummy things to eat. Monster was a little tired and shy, but melted everyone's hearts of course.

Hat: Bowler style, $20 Party Hut {you can get cheaper on eBay}
Waistcoat: $5 from Big W on sale.
Shirt: Button-up, part of a 3 piece set from Best & Less - gift
Belt: tan, hand me down from somewhere
Pants: Resized by me from a pair of Tim's skate shorts - $20 originally
Shoes: Black and white checkered, Kmart $8

He really loves wearing hats. This bowler hat is mine but he keeps stealing it.

Tutorial: Perler/Hama Beads Pixel Heart Necklace

With all the Valentine's Day things popping up on Pinterest, I was in a bit of a love heart mood. This shape, according to my son who is the authority on shapes now, is called a Heart Beat.

I never knew what the heck Hama beads {also know as Perler beads} were until December of 2009 when I entered into a Pin-Up competition {yeh I used to be cute!} and I met the very talented Fanny Barlow of Drop Dead, Gorgeous... Couture to Die For. I bought this cute little pixel bow hair clip from her, and I still have it to this day. I LOVED it. It was like a game, but real life! In my hair!

It took me a while to figure out what they were made from, and even longer to decide to buy all the stuff I needed and give it a go. Trust me, it's SO EASY. Much easier than I thought it would be!

Want to know how to make your own hama bead jewellery? It's not even restricted to jewellery. You can make them into anything. Coasters, wallart. Um. Anything!

I made this Peashooter magnet for my sister from the game Plants vs Zombies
