My Boy Sewing!

Vin, being my first child ever, was the only one I sewed for until his little sister came along. Boy Sewing wasn't anything difficult for me, it was just all I knew! I love sewing Eddie pretty dresses but my heart is always with boy fashion and sewing trendy, unique and FUN clothing for my man! Although I have a Sewing for Boys tag, I thought a masterpost of all my boy sewing was in order! Eventually I plan on extending this page to include other exciting things i have planned for the future but for now it's just all me c: you don't mind that, do you?

Pattern Hack: Nevermore Ravens Geranium Two Piece

Nevermore Geranium Dress Two Piece Hack! (og pattern by made by rae) • www.max-california.com

Morning friends! I stitched up this super cute little two piece outfit for Eddie last night - inspired by Rae's little 'Love My Geranium' competition she has going on Instagram right now! I've sewn a few Geraniums before, I know I have, but i have not much photographic evidence? And I can't really remember what they looked like but as I was sewing the pattern last night I distinctly remember putting a few together!

I never thought I'd be at this stage of sewing where I would forget entire garments I have sewn! I guess that's why taking photos and blogging about them is good for me to remember!

Anyway, I really wanted to use the last two fabric quarters I had from my Katherine Cordega stash - the Nevermore Ravens! I had the purple and the blue colourways left and a bit of the feathers (you can read all the details about those and see what I made with the grey colourway here) and the Geranium Dress bodice only takes a fat quarter for the entire front and back panels (yess)! How cute is that little divet in the neckline? I feel the sleeve shape and that divet really make the Geranium SUCH a Geranium for me (personally!)

So I used the blue Nevermore ravens for the bodice, adding an inch band on the bottom to make a cropped top that will avoid any nip slips! Honestly this dress is such a simple and straight-forward sew, which are my favourites really, and it comes out so sweet!

The purple Nevermore ravens turned into the front and back top layer of the skirt, the grey feather scrap became a waistband and I used the more of the grey shirting I used for the bodice band (and lining) for the bottom layer of the skirt! It's a pretty simple skirt, honestly, I might do up a quick tutorial for it because it's great for scrap busting and using up fat quarters if you ever find yourself with a million and no desire for quilting to use them up on, lmao.

Also, I made an Instagram account specifically for my sewing, a lot of my sews go straight to there because I don't always have the time to take SLR photos and then write a blog post about them! Pattern Review: Petite Sweater

Petite Sweater Review (pattern by Lil Luxe Collection) • www.max-california.com

I got lucky and managed to be able to test the Petite Sweater from Lil Luxe Collection! It's a brand new release that comes with a leotard and leggings as part of the Centre Stage Collection and I'm defo looking forward to being able to sew the whole lot up together!

Eddie ADORES cropped tops, and she adores thumbholes even more, so this was a winning combo for her. That adorable peekaboo and crossover back with the cowl neckline was a winning combo for me!

The apricot version was the first test run of the pattern, so there's been a few tweaks to it between that version and the final black and white version I sewed up!

It's actually not a super complicated sew at all, even though it seems like it is! Just take your time reading through the instructions and you'll work it all out! I had the fiddliest time with the thumb holes, so I'll probably do them an alternative way that I'm more used to next time I sew this up!
