Tutorial: Triangle Pocket Skirt

Tutorial: triangle pocket skirt - a super quick sew with triangle pockets on triangle pockets! • www.max-california.com

For some reason lately I've been angling for triangles? Okay, i totally didn't mean that little pun there but it's staying! I was invited to come up with something for Simple Simon & Co's annual Skirting the Issue which is an amazing initiative for sewing up skirts and donating them to little girls in the community that probably don't get things like this (there's a list of places you can donate to in the link above, and yes there's australian centers too!)

So today my offering is this fun little tutorial for an easy skirt with triangle pockets! There's pockets on the pockets too, also triangles, so it's like - triception.

Eddie has been begging to put this skirt on since I made it, but I've learned the blogger's number one rule that if you want to take photos of it DO NOT LET the children wear it/touch it/breath near it until you have the shots. She's been very patient.

This skirt is pretty easy to whip up, honestly, and i'm 39 weeks pregnant so take my word for it okay?

Zou Playset!

I actually cannot believe I haven't blogged about this yet? if you know me then obviously you know my blog gf Kat of Sew Chibi - right? If you don't, don't click over just yet because you'll be lost in her magical blog for about 95 years and I have something super amazing to show you first okay? Then you can go o3o

So Kat is the more talented of the two of us; she's an amazing, colourful, inspiring whirlwind of a seamstress but she's also an incredible human too. This girl has taken the plunge into the world of pdf patterns and let me tell you - it's everything you've ever dreamed of.

Mermaid Lil Skater Dress and a Star Wars Patch Vest

A few months ago i went to a friend's surprise baby shower, and normally i just buy things like nappies and boring but useful things - you know? Well this time I decided I wanted to sew something up for the bub instead!

I went with a tiny skater dress (pattern from Kitschy Coo - the baby add on is free) made up in the scraps of my mermaid fabric. IT IS SO CUTE, i can't handle it. It will be a while before the lil recipient is big enough to wear it but I'm sure she's going to look so damn adorable!

I also made a little patch vest for her for when she's much bigger (like 2 or 3!)(it fits her brother, i'm wondering if he's been rocking it out instead). The little bub's dad is hella into star wars so I made it star wars themed, cutting up an old shirt for the back patch and stitching on some star wars fabric for the side panels. I've been collecting trims and patches for a few years now, and still collecting them, because I plan on making A LOT of patch jackets and vests in the near future!

These pics are soooo bad because I took them the night before I wrapped them up and handed them over!

T-Shirt Surgery: Safari Raglan

I have recently rediscovered the Safari Raglan in my pattern stash and reignited my love for it. Honestly it's such a great basic raglan sleeve pattern to have in your arsenal, and i reach for it more than any other when i'm whipping up a shirt or a dress for eddie.
